I attended the 102nd Supreme Session in Cincinnati, OH, as Queen along with 18 other members from Isis Temple. We had a great time with fellowship and fun with members from our temple as well as other temples from all over the U.S. and Canada. I want to send out a big thanks to the Past Queens, Line Officers, Delegates, and Patrol members for making my week so fun and special. I had escorts and banner bearers made up of members of our designated unit, the Isis Temple Patrol. I was showered with love, support, and beautiful gifts throughout the week. I was in awe of the amount of support everyone gave to me, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Headquarters for Supreme Session was at the Millennium hotel, which was attached to the Duke Convention Center in downtown Cincinnati. Our week was filled with lots of legislation and reports from numerous committees. There was a total of 1,043 voting delegates present this year. I was so proud to stand with the reigning queens—“Shirley’s HoneyBees”—as we shared in the installation of officers. Shirley Henley was installed as Supreme Queen and arrived on a boat representing the theme of Where the Nile Meets the Ohio. She was brought in to the Garth Brooks song “The River,” which was so fitting for the week. She was accompanied by her grandchildren, who were dressed as honeybees. Also installed were Supreme Princess Royal Dale Obernolte from Fresno, CA;
Supreme Princess Tirzah Heather Krastins Lambert from Minneapolis, MN; and
Supreme Princess Badoura Donna Kramer from Edmonton, Alberta.
One of my favorite moments in Cincinnati was representing our temple as I watched the Isis Temple Patrol perform. They did an amazing new routine to the song “Funkytown” while they sported Nile green fros. They were a huge hit and had people talking about the great routine the rest of the week. The routine was so much fun and perfect! Thank you, Patrol, for all the hard work you do.
In total, Daughters of the Nile contributed $2,814,879.33 to the Shriners Hospitals for Children last year. I am proud to report that Isis Temple gave $19,826 to the Foundation last year. Way to go, ladies! This is amazing! JPQ Krista Williams and I were invited to the Foundation Club private reception, which recognizes all temples who gave $10,000 or more to the Foundation. The reception was full of celebration and congratulations for the efforts given by these major donor temples. We were presented with a beautiful plaque, and we were congratulated and given big hugs by Imperial Potentate Gary Bergenske. What an amazing experience and honor for our temple. Let’s keep up the good work so that we may continue to attend this in years to come. The Foundation Club temples alone donated a collective amount of $821,015.99. Wow!
I am happy to report that, not only did we do an amazing job with monetary donations, we celebrated our membership efforts last year as well. During JPQ Krista’s reign we initiated 18 new Princesses, for which we were presented with a certificate for being one of the top temples in membership as well. I hope to continue our trend in membership each year. I have some exciting new ideas for membership this year that I will be sharing with you at our September Stated Session. I hope that you will all give yourselves a pat on the back for a job well done.
Special congratulations to Past Supreme Queen Sue Layman on being appointed Chair of the Supreme Temple Finance Committee and to the Supreme Publications Committee. We are also honored to have appointments for the following: Membership and Public Relations Committee – Nancy Markham, PQ; Website Committee – Krista Williams, JPQ; Supreme Goodwill Ambassador to the Central Area – Jennifer Nance, PQ; and Supreme Temple Banner Escort – Karla Goff, PQ. I’m so proud! Congratulations to all of you for your well-earned appointments.
The 2019 Supreme Session will be held in Reno, NV, June 9 – 13, 2019. We are allowed five Lady of the Household voting delegates. I encourage you to submit your name for consideration next year to represent Isis Temple as a delegate. Supreme Session is a wonderful place to make new friendships outside of our temple and to really learn more about Daughters of the Nile. Getting involved and making your voice heard is the best way to really have a full “Nile experience.” If you have any questions on how to submit your request for consideration, please contact Pr. Recorder Joyce Giolitto.
I hope you are all having as much fun this summer as I am. We have so many exciting things happening this summer for our temple. Our Nile Family Picnic is going to be held Sunday, July 15, at 2 p.m. This will be held at Audubon State Park just across the river in Henderson, KY. Thank you to the Isis Temple Egyptian Band for helping to organize this. Please RSVP to Pr. Barbara Sinnett ASAP if you plan to attend ([email protected] or 812-449-6752). Please bring a covered dish or dessert; meat, water, and lemonade will be provided. Family members and friends are welcome. Be sure to bring any prospective members as well to show them our wonderful fellowship at our temple.
Our 4H fundraiser will take place July 23 – 28. Karla Goff, PQ, is chairing this fundraiser and still looking for a few volunteers so please contact her to let her know if you can help. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and needs a lot of help from all of us. Please get involved if your time allows.
Our annual BBQ sale is back again next month! Please let JPQ Krista Williams know if you would like an order form to collect orders, or you may contact her to place an order for yourself. The deadline for orders is August 9, and pickup will be August 18 in the Hadi parking lot. Sell! Sell! Sell!
Our next Stated Session is Tuesday, September 4, at 7 p.m. Remember that this will not be on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday. We will honor our Past Queens and any 50-year members with a reception to follow. Past Queens, I encourage you to attend and bring your memory book to share with our members.
Our Supreme Queen Official Visitation will be Saturday, September 15, at 2 p.m. at Hadi Temple with banquet to follow. I would like to see as many of you there as possible to give Supreme Queen Shirley Henley a wonderful Isis Temple welcome. Officer rehearsals will start August 16 and will be every Thursday (tentatively) until the Supreme Queen Visit. We will have a final rehearsal for Units and Officers Thursday, September 13, starting at 5:30 p.m. Please let me know if you won’t be able to make it.
The next Princeton Nile Club meeting will be held at Noon on September 11 at R’Z Café in Ft Branch. Please contact Pr. Royal Cheryl Stader if you would like to carpool. The carpool meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Airport on Hwy 41.
We have so many exciting things happening at our temple. I have collected a lot of new and exciting ideas while at Supreme Session. If you have any questions, concerns, or new ideas for our temple, please let me know. Let’s have an amazing year filled with fun, fellowship, and, as always, raising money for the children. Keep buzzing for kids!
