July, August and September have been very busy. There were many Nile-related fundraisers, social events and a ceremony of initiation.
The 4-H fundraiser, July 25-30, was a huge success raising $3,400.00. HUGE SHOUT OUT to Karla Goff, PQ, her shift leaders, members and non-members who participated to make this a huge success.
August 7th we had our Nile Family Picnic held at Bethel UCC church. The turnout was
awesome! It was wonderful to see so many members who we hadn’t seen for a while.
Thank you to the membership committee who provided small gifts to members who
brought a potential candidate and for the potential candidate herself. It was a great time
of food and fellowship. The kids were able to play in the gym or on the playground while
the adults could play or just relax and enjoy our time together.
Also in August, we had the honor of initiating two new Princesses; Cindy Zeller and Judy
Schulz. Please extend a welcome to them when you see them!
The September Stated Session allowed us to come together to celebrate our Past Queens
and 50-year members. Elsie Ervin, Sharon Johnson, JoAnn Stock, Evelyn Van Hooser, and Barbara Wessel have been members of Daughters of the Nile for 50 years. Although they were unable to attend, each will receive their 50-year pin from me in upcoming months. I would like to personally thank all the Past Queens who attended. Our beautiful Princess Musician, Jane Harmon sang a Nile version of “It Had to be You” in honor of our Past Queens. Our Dancer’s and Pageantry made gifts for each Past Queen to wear for the holidays. Isis Temple is so fortunate to have each of you and I am so proud to follow in your footsteps. Your love, support, and sage advice is invaluable! Your continued support of Daughters of the Nile is evident in all we do. THANK YOU and I Love You All!
Also in September, we had a great time at Trivia Night which was held at the Newburgh
Masonic Lodge. We created teams and had a blast answering a series of questions for each round. We also had a Potluck of Appetizers and snacks and received prizes for our efforts. I even brought my 16 year old Little Sister who really enjoyed the night! I encourage anyone interested to be watching for the next fun night and join us. You will not regret it. Thank you to Princess Royal Krista Williams for spearheading this night and to the Ways and Means Committee for helping plan and support the event.
Several of us were invited to a Scottish Rite picnic at Walton’s International Comfort Food on Sept. 17th. I was honored to speak about the love we share and how we support one another in Daughters of the Nile. I also shared information about our units, our Stated Sessions, and where we meet. JPQ Tina, Princess Royal Krista and I met a potential newmember who is very interested and will petition for membership. Noble Rick Dobbs gets credit for introducing us! It was a lovely day! Thank you to Princess Kathy Rosa for the invite!

We also plan to have a membership brunch on October 22nd at 10am at Bethel United Church of Christ on Greenriver Rd. Please invite a friend to attend who you know may really enjoy or need the fellowship and love of Daughters of the Nile. We will again have gifts for members who bring a potential candidate and their guest. This will be less formal than past meetings and will focus on the food and fellowship, though we will advertise our units and the wonderful work we do for the Daughters of the Nile Foundation. We will use this opportunity to have a social event as well so please come whether you can bring anyone or not!
