What’s the word, hummingbird?
This will be my last newsletter as Queen. I am humbled by the kindness, love and support that I have received throughout my year. Each one of you has contributed to the success of this year in your own way. It takes all of us!
The October Fall Card Party was a great time as well as a successful fundraiser. Thank you to the committee chair, PQ Jean Rickard, and all those who volunteered their time, items and money. Our first (hopefully annual) Wine, Cheese and Chatter hosted by the Past Queens was full of great stories, history and fellowship.
In November I had the distinct honor of welcoming Supreme Queen Sharon K. St. John to Isis Temple. At our ceremonial we initiated seven new Princesses. They were Shannon Barchett, Hannah Groeniger, Christi Grose, Sandra Mock, Leanne Rickard, Amy Whitehead and Anna Marie Zellerino. We are so happy to have you ladies join this great organization. To the Officers and Ladies of the Household, THANK YOU! I was in awe of how special you made the day. The welcome committee, decoration committee and ritual work by the Officers exceeded my expectations. Supreme Queen Sharon enjoyed her time with us and sent a very nice letter in follow-up expressing how well we did.
Our November Stated Session included a Founders Day presentation by PQ Nancy Markham full of past Nile history that was very interesting.
December was full of fun, fellowship and food! Our December Stated Session was full of ugly Christmas sweaters, laughter and a little dancing. The Nile Christmas party was a huge success hosted by the Dancers and Pageantry with assistance from other units. Thank you to all the Officers, Units, Princeton Nile Club, Quilters and Past Queens for the gifts, goodies and friendship that was extended to me. I am always grateful for every kind thought. To all the ladies who came to wrap gifts for the hospital patients, thank you! What a nice surprise to have the task completed so early this year. The line officers and I enjoyed our time with the hospital children and their siblings at the Hadi Christmas Party hosted by the Hadi Hospital Staff. I hope your holidays were festive and full of love as well.
At the January Stated Session on January 4, 2016, we honor those members no longer with us; their legacies live on in our actions and devotion to Daughters of the Nile.
We will have a third ceremonial on February 10 at 6:30 pm on the second floor of Hadi Temple. Please join us as your time permits.
Our last fundraiser, will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 6:00 pm on the second floor of Hadi. Please come out and support Daughters of the Nile. Watch your email for ticket information.
The annual Election of Officers shall be held at the March Stated Session, which will be March 7, 2016, at 7:00 pm at Hadi Temple on the second floor. Per the Supreme Temple Bylaws Article V, Section 4 (b): Campaigning for or against any candidate shall not be permitted and could results in suspension or expulsion.
Again, I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to serve as Queen of Isis Temple No. 41. I have a part of each of you that I will carry with me a lifetime. Your love and devotion to the children is inspiring. I have never regretted saying “yes”. Thank you for the privilege you bestowed upon me.
Big hugs,
Humming with Nile Love,
Tina Dobbs, Queen
