Fellow Officers and Ladies of the Household,

It is my absolute honor, privilege, and utmost responsibility to serve as Queen of Isis Temple No. 41 for the ensuing year. It seems like only yesterday I was at the station of Princess Badoura, completely clueless and scared out of my mind. The encouragement from each of you has given me the strength and confidence to progress on to where I sit today. I look forward to a Nile year full of fun and fellowship. I would like to extend my deepest thank you to everyone who participated in the Installation Ceremony on Saturday, March 22 at Hadi Temple. I enjoyed seeing everyone all dressed up and you allowing me to put my own personal touches on the decor in shades of blush & bashful. It was a day I will cherish forever with many memories I will always hold dear. Thank you again to each of you for everything.

My promise to you is to perform my duty the best I can. I will work collaboratively with you in harmony and trust. We will have fun and good fellowship, with several new and some existing opportunities to spend time getting to know each other better. There are several fundraisers and social opportunities in the works. I ask that you watch your emails and future newsletters for details. We will work to increase our membership and fill the seats of the Temple each month. I do intend to continue with the abbreviated session in April and May with social activities following.

I am very much looking forward to our 109th Annual Supreme Session in Las Vegas, NV this June where Supreme Princess Royal Kathy Walliker will be installed as Supreme Queen. I am thrilled to have the Isis Temple Patrol as my designated unit and I know it will be a great time. The Supreme Queen's Official Visit to Isis Temple is being planned for Saturday, August 23, at Hadi Temple. Watch for communications as more details will be announced soon. I have found Supreme Princess Royal Kathy to be a lovely lady and know you will as well. Everyone benefits from your sweet spirit of generosity giving of your resources, time and talents. Through your hard work and dedication as a valued and respected member of our order, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children receiving care at Shriners Children's. Our philanthropy is fortunate to have women like you working together to advance our sisterhood and transform the lives of children and their families around the world. We are guided by our five virtues that express what we believe and who we are, and reflect how we are called to serve. I admire watching each of you live out these virtues in our daily lives. Just remember, "If you can dream it, you can do it." -Walt Disney

Please remember that Isis Temple needs the support of each and every member. When your time and abilities permit, I hope to see you at Stated Sessions and our social and fundraising events. Consider joining the Egyptian Band or Patrol. Attend a Princeton Nile Club meeting or join the Quilters. These are ways to strengthen relationships and gain connections with each other. I ask that you remember our motto for the year: "When life gets hard, remember the graceful flamingo--it's all about balance." If I can be of any assistance to you this year, please reach out.

Andrea Peters, Queen

Fellow Officers and Ladies of the Household,
Well, fall is here and in full color. This all started with the visit of our Supreme Queen Jackie Holloway’s Official Visit. You ladies did an amazing job, and Jackie was highly impressed with what she experienced while visiting our Temple.
At our Supreme Queen Official Visit and ceremonial, we welcomed two new Princesses in Isis Temple, Pr. Darlena Lancaster and Pr. Marsha Tweedy. We want to welcome you to Isis Temple, and we are so very excited for you to join this wonderful organization!
My deepest appreciation to all you ladies that assisted with the setting up of the temple and for tearing down and cleaning up afterwards.  It is truly amazing how we all come together and get the job done.
Thank you to everyone who devoted their time helping with the 4-H Fair Concession fundraiser. This event brings us all together not only to raise money to support our Temple but to be together and share our
stories, our smiles, our laughter and our love for each other.
I had the pleasure of working in the Egyptian Band Box and the Patrol Brain Booth at this year’s Fall Festival. We could not have asked for better weather and both booths had a successful week.
It was great to see so many smiling faces at our September Stated Session. We were happy to honor our Past Queens and 50-year members. At the November Stated Session, we honored Founders Day followed by a little trivia competition between Team Royal, Team Tirzah and the winning team, Team Badoura.
Remember, we will have another ceremonial scheduled for the evening of our February Stated Session. Who do you know that you’d like to propose for membership? If you have anyone you feel would like to join our beautiful organization, please get a proposal filled out and turned in by the December stated session so we can vote on them in
January.
Monday, Dec. 2, we will have a Christmas party after our Stated Session, hosted by the Egyptian Band. Please bring a wrapped ornament for the ornament exchange and we will also be collecting gift cards such as Grub Hub to give to the hospitals.
The Princeton Nile Club Cookie Exchange will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at R’Z Restaurant in Ft. Branch. We will meet at 12:30 p.m. for lunch and to exchange our cookies. If you can attend, please bring 3 dozen cookies to trade.
Casino Night will be on Saturday March 1, 2025 from 7:00 to 11:00 pm on the second floor of Hadi. There will be tickets available at our January stated session.
I wish all of you a very happy and safe holiday season. I look forward to sharing this season of love and good cheer with you. May your beauty radiate through our hearts of gold.
Nile Love,
Queen Kara May

Fellow Officers and Ladies of the Household,

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer.  The 108th Supreme Session held in Boise, ID was attended by several of our members. Thank you to all the Past Queens, Line Officers, Delegates, Egyptian Band members, Patrol members and Ladies of the Household who attended. My special thanks go to my escorts and banner bearers from the Egyptian Band, our designated unit. I will cherish all the lovely gifts, laughs, and the Egyptian bands traveling “Queen Kara” song. Thank you from my heart for the memories that I will carry with me the rest of this year and years to come.

The week was very busy with new legislation, changes in protocol, new abbreviated stated session, election of Supreme Officers, fun, new friendships and reconnecting with friends from near and far. There was a total of 783 voting delegates present this year. Jackie Holloway was installed as Supreme Queen – arriving on a “Litter” followed by Clyde the camel. Also installed were Supreme Princess Royal Kathy Walliker from Portland, OR, Supreme Princess Tirzah Kathleen Kathy Rafter of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Supreme Princess Badoura Donna Huff Isbell of Nashville, TN.

I was incredibly honored to represent Isis Temple No. 41 in Boise. How wonderful it was to see our outstanding units perform. The Egyptian Band tooted their horn and beat their drum with perfection to their new routine. The Patrol preformed their new routine to “Boogie Shoes” and didn’t miss a step. Their glitter boots even made the Jumbotron. Both units also participated in honor guards and marched in the mass patrol formations during opening and closing sessions.

Daughters of the Nile temples collectively contributed nearly $2.75 million to the Shriners Hospitals for Children last year. Isis Temple gave Over $10,000 to the Daughters of the Nile Foundation last year, which once again earned us a spot in the “Foundation Club,” which recognizes temples who contributed more than $10,000 during the year. Let’s keep up the momentum for 2025!

Special congratulations to Past Supreme Queen Sue Layman on again being appointed Chair of the Supreme Temple Code of Conduct committee, Supreme Temple Compliance committee, Supreme Temple Finance Review Committee and Supreme Temple Strategic Planning Committee. Special congratulations for Linda Trible, PQ for appointment as Chair of the Supreme Temple Strategic Planning Subordinate Temple Assistant Committee. We are also honored to have six Supreme Appointees: Supreme Goodwill Ambassador to the Central Area – Jan Akers-DuBois, PQ; Supreme Temple American Flag Escort – Tina Dobbs, PQ; Supreme Temple Canadian Flag Escort – Karla Goff; PQ; and Supreme Temple Banner Escort – Cynthia Berg, PQ; Supreme Temple Brazilian Flag Escort – Casey Wonders, PQ: Supreme Temple Bolivian Flag Escort – Cheryl Stader, PQ.  There was a special Princess recognition this year that goes to Princess Terri Cheeseman as a Supreme Giving Heart.  Congratulations Ladies!

Supreme Session also included new change to protocol and the introduction of an abbreviated opening and closing at our stated session to shorten our session and make out members feel welcome and renew their excitement for Daughters of the Nile. I am thrilled to announce that Isis Temple will be a Beta Testing Temple for these new changes and will implement come of these changes at our September 3, 2024 stated session.  I encourage everyone that has not attended a meeting in awhile to join us this night.  Well will start the night with a potluck dinner at 5:30 pm at Hadi on the second floor with session being at 7:00 pm. Look forward to seeing you smiling faces.
  • Officers Practice will be on Wednesday August 28, 2024 at 6:00 pm at Hadi on the Second Floor.
The 4-H Fair Fundraiser is taking place July 22 - 27, 2024. Special thanks to PQ Karla Goff for taking on the duty of coordinating this event, the schedule and seeing that all shifts were filled. This is not an easy task so if you see Karla at the fair this week, please extend to her your appreciation for her hard work.

Supreme Queen Jackie Holloway Supreme visit along with our Ceremonial of Installation will be on Monday September 30, 2024, at the Masonic Temple at 301 E Cherry St, Evansville, IN starting at 7:00 pm.  There will be a dinner banquet at 5:30 in the lower level, cost per ticket is $25.00.  Please RSVP by September 22nd to Pr. Royal Andrea Peters at 618-925-0920, [email protected]  or myself.
  • Officer Practice: Wednesday September 18, at 6:00 p.m at Hadi Second Floor.
Unit and Officer Practice: Friday September 27, starting at 6.00 p.m. at Hadi on the second floor. Egyptian Band at 5:30, Patrol at 5:45 and officers begin at 6 p.m.

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you throughout this summer and the coming fall at as many events as your time and other duties will permit. We have much to offer as an organization. With the variety of activities on the calendar this year, there is sure to be something of interest for everyone!

Fellow officers and Ladies of the Household,

I would like to share how excited I am to become your Queen, your servant.  The past four years certainly have flown by. Seems like only yesterday I was at the station of Princess Badoura with my heart pounding out of my chest and telling myself “You Can Do This”. The encouragement from each and every one of you has given me the confidence to succeed. I promise to do my very best in representing Isis Temple as queen. My journey to the throne has been so rewarding.  I have developed a true love of the ritualistic work.  That is not to say that I do it perfectly, only that I think it is beautiful and love hearing it.

Let me extend my deepest thank you to all of those who participated in the Installation of Officers on March 16, 2024, at the Masonic Temple.  It is a day I will always cherish.  Special thanks go out to the Installing Officers, Units, designated helpers and those who attended.  The support and love that I and the officers have received is truly remarkable.
Our first Stated Session was held on Monday April 1, 2024, at 7:00pm at Hadi Temple where I had the honor of installing the Unit Officers. Ladies you all deserve an applause for your professionalism and outstanding ritualist work.

I am looking forward to the 108th Annual Supreme Session that will be held June 9 - 13, 2024 in Bosie, ID where Supreme Princess Royal Jackie Halloway will be installed at Supreme Queen. I am thrilled to have the Egyptian Band as my designated unit and I know we will have a great time.

Our Supreme Queen visitation will be held on September 30, 2024, 7:00pm at the Masonic Temple with a banquet proceeding.

My theme for this year is: “It always seems impossible until it is done.”
My motto is: “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It’s the courage to continue that counts.”
My Scripture for this year is: “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he had promised.” Hebrews 10:36

Please remember that Isis Temple needs the support of each and every member.  I hope to see many of you at Stated Session, social events and fundraisers.  I am an email or phone call away for anyone that has comments, suggestions, and/or questions.

Year End Report

Fellow Officers and Ladies of the Household,

It has been an honor to serve as your Queen this past year. It’s hard to believe that the year is almost over as it has just flown by. I believe we did spread our wings and soar this year. We at Isis Temple No. 41 have a lot to be thankful for. We accepted 13 new members into our order, and we saw great success with our fundraising events.

There was a great time at the Supreme Session. I have enjoyed being able to be with all the Dragonflies these past two years at Supreme Session and attending the business sessions. It truly was an informative experience. Getting to know this wonderful group of ladies has been an honor. Both the Egyptian Band and the Patrol had successful booths at the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival. The Vanderburgh County 4-H Fair was again a success. Thank you to those who helped work at the booth, especially those volunteering more than one day, and most importantly, PQ Karla Goff for chairing this event.

We were given the honor and opportunity to work with the Nobles at the ticket office for the 89th Hadi Shrine Circus and were presented a check for more than $7,300 for our efforts. Thank you to all ladies who volunteered your time for this event, especially to chairperson PQ Kathy Stewart. The time and dedication you devoted to this are appreciated more than words can say. We had a great Trivia Night enjoyed by all with the highest attendance to date. Thank you to the ladies who furnished food for the event and special thanks to PQ Krista Williams for chairing this event. We had a fun ice cream social chaired by Meredith Thompson for members to bring a guest to give them the knowledge of our mission as Daughters of the Nile.

Thank you to PQ Marian Trapp for chairing the Charitable Giving committee. We were able to present a substantial financial gift to the Daughters of the Nile Foundation, which as you know benefits Shriners Children.

We welcomed our Supreme Queen Patricia “Patty” Larimore on August 18, bringing in nine new members at that ceremonial. I was honored to bring in my daughter Stephanie at this ceremonial.  Sadly, we grieved and memorialized 19 members this year, including PQ Carol Wellmeier.

I would like to give a hearty round of applause to our Past Supreme Queen, Past Queens, 2023 Officers, Ceremonial Assistants, pro-tems, committee chairs, and every Lady of the Household. Thank you to all who served and participated in our committees. We definitely did soar in 2023, and I look forward to being a part of the wonderful things that Pr. Royal Kara May will accomplish as Queen.

I offer my deepest gratitude for the work all Ladies of the Household do in serving Isis Temple No. 41 and our Supreme Temple. I look forward to the growth and fellowship that 2024 will bring!

Thank you for allowing me this opportunity.

With Nile love and hugs,
Judy Schultz, Queen

I hope everyone has recovered from the fall festival. It was another successful year.

Thank you to everyone making donations to Shriners Children's. They are always greatly appreciated. Everyone benefits from your generous donations of your resources, time, and talent. Our philanthropy is fortunate to have each of you working together to advance our fellowship and give hope and joy to the children and families who are and have been cared for by Shriners Children's.
Thank you to Kathy Stewart, Linda Bullock, and all who volunteered to help at the Hadi circus ticket office. Our December Stated Session will be on Monday, December 4, at 7 pm. The Patrol will be hosting a party after the meeting. If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a wrapped gift valued at $15 with the purpose of keeping you warm. This can be a clothing item, food, beverages, etc. It should be exciting to see what everyone brings!

Another fun and exciting event will be the Princeton Nile Club meeting on December 12, at R'Z Cafe in Ft. Branch. Please bring 3 dozen cookies for their annual cookie exchange.
We will have a ceremonial on Thursday, January 18, at 6:30 pm. Please attend if possible.  We will be having Trivia Night on January 26, and Casino Night will be on February 24. I hope to see you at an upcoming event or Stated Session.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! Wishing a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

I feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful organization. I am thrilled to be working with all the Officers and members as we soar into the new year.

Thank You to all who attended and participated in the Installation of Officers Ceremony on March 19, 2023, at Hadi Temple. Special thanks to the Installing Officers. Also Thank You to the Patrol and Egyptian Band for your performances. They were delightful! Special Thanks to the reception committee for the beautiful decorations and the delicious food. Our first Stated Session was held on April 3, 2023, and I am pleased to say all Officers were present. We are already planning some exciting fundraising events. Starting with our Steak Night and Dessert Auction. It is scheduled for July 14 at Hadi. More information will be forwarded soon. Later in July we will again be working the Wood Barn Concession Stand at the 4H Fair. This is a great fundraiser for our temple. Happy New Year! I hope the New Year brings you health, happiness, and small daily joys. As I reflect on Nile year 2022, I think this year’s theme, Together We Can Do Great Things, resonated throughout our Temple and activities.

We at Isis Temple No. 41, Daughters of the Nile, have a lot to celebrate. We accepted 18 new members into our beautiful order. We’ve seen great success with our fundraising efforts. Our events not only raised considerable money but were lots of fun. We had a strong presence at Supreme Session in Dallas, TX. Both the Egyptian Band and Patrol had successful West Side Nut Club Fall Festival booths. Our Card Party by Mail profits allowed us to purchase three cranial remolding helmets for the St. Louis hospital Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services (POPS) program. We welcomed and entertained Her Supreme Majesty, Vickie Tabor Hill. We experienced great teamwork between Nile members and Hadi Shrine Nobles while working the 88th Shrine Circus Ticket Office assisting with circus ticket sales. We recognized four ladies who have held membership in Isis Temple No. 41 for 50 years. We recognized our Founders Day by learning facts about our founding from seven of our officers. Many members and friends attended the Derby Dinner Theater in Clarksville, IN, to see Irving Berlin’s White Christmas theater production. The bus transportation for this social trip was sponsored by a generous donation from the Hadi Motor Corps. Sadly, we grieved and memorialized those members who passed away during 2022. We sent our Jars of Hope donations to the Daughters of the Nile Charitable Giving Fund. And we presented a substantial financial gift to the Daughters of the Nile Foundation, which as you know benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children.

I would say we’ve fulfilled this year’s motto of Live Well, Laugh Often, Let Love Grow with Friendship. It is always a delight to see the new members, along with the established members, attend Stated Session and participate in our events. Hospitality is the heart of who we are as Daughters of the Nile. You have been generous with lending your time, talents, and resources to make Isis Temple No. 41 great. You have invested personal involvement in reaching others to encourage participation and financial contributions. I want to express my sincere appreciation for your support and partnership.

Let’s celebrate. I want to give a hearty round of applause to our Past Supreme Queen, Past Queens, 2022 Officers, Ceremonial Assistants, pro tems, committee chairs, and every one of you. Let me thank each of you who served on a committee in any way. You individually and we collectively have made this year a success. Ultimately, the children receiving care through the Shriners Children’s health system will reap the benefits of your unwavering support, energy, and generosity.

I offer my deepest gratitude for the work you do in serving Isis Temple No. 41 and our Supreme Temple and your continued work to make the world a better place. I look forward to the joy and growth that 2023 will bring!

With Nile Love and Hugs,
Kathy Stewart, Queen

Summer Fun

Fellow Officers and Ladies of the Household,

Congratulations to the nine new members who were christened into Isis Temple No. 41
on May 16, 2022. We welcome you and look forward to seeing you at Stated Sessions and
our events. The summer months have been busy for Isis Temple. Twenty-one members
attended the 106th Supreme Session, held June 12-16 in Dallas, TX. Attendees from the
United States, Canada, and Brazil gathered for five days of education, inspiration, and
celebration. Coming together for the first time in person in over two years was refreshing. It was a fun time for renewing friendships, meeting 99 fellow reigning queens, enacting legislation to better our temples and mission, and celebrating the donation of $2,257,000 presented to Imperial Potentate Bill Bailey and First Lady Debbie to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children®. Since 1924, when Daughters of the Nile began its mission of supporting the great philanthropy of Shriners Hospitals for Children®, the US and Canadian Foundations have given more than $70 million to the hospital system. The current total membership of Daughters of the Nile is 16,910. Newly installed Supreme Queen Vickie Tabor Hill of Merak Temple No. 104 in Waco, TX, will visit Evansville on Friday, November 4, 2022. I’m hoping you will make plans to attend her official visit and celebration. There were many awards extended to Isis Temple and its members at the Supreme Session. Our temple received the Foundation’s Major Donor Recognition for 2021. Sue Layman, PSQ, was presented with a plaque signifying a $20,000 donation in her honor to the Foundation from Sue’s Musicians. The Schnakenberg family was recognized for having the second largest family in the Nile Legacy program. Congratulations to Linda Trible, PQ; Karen Schnakenberg; Sherri Schnakenberg, PQ; Jennifer Emsweller, PQ; Megan Trible; and Olivia Schnakenberg. A white rose was placed on the altar in memory of our beloved Shirley Sheets, PQ. The unit
performances were entertaining as usual. Isis Temple’s units are well known for our flashy uniforms and precision drills. Congratulations to those receiving Supreme Appointments. The queen’s party in “Margaritaville” was amazing. A big shout out to everyone for the extraordinary decorations, meaningful musical tribute, delicious snacks and beverages, and fun and games. All the events, banquets, business sessions, parties, and tours were well planned and attended, but the most rewarding aspect of Supreme
Session is seeing the many personal connections of love and devotion to our beautiful order. It is truly inspiring! I offer my sincerest gratitude for all attendees who represented Isis Temple with grace and dedication. We see the same representations in our subordinate temple. Thank you to each member for continuing to give of your time, talents, resources, and most of all, friendships!

This summer Pr. Chaplain Shannon Dierlam and I made our second visit to several members who are not able to attend Nile functions at this time. Listening to their stories
about their past Nile experiences is delightful. Their love of Daughters of the Nile never fades.

The Vanderburgh County 4-H Fair in July 2022 was a tremendous success. Thank you to Karla Goff, PQ, for serving as chair for this fun and important fundraiser. The Ways and Means Committee, chaired by Krista Williams, PQ, is working on several fundraisers for the remaining year. At the time of writing this article, we look forward to serving 169 guests at our Steak Night & Dessert Auction on August 26. Special kudos to Kara May and Andrea Peters, co-chairs, and Meredith Thompson for their hard work toward the success of this event. Wow, we have some creative and generous pastry chefs among us who donated to the dessert auction! What a sweet time!

A new fundraising event for Isis Temple will assisting the Hadi Shrine Circus Ticket Office with selling circus tickets. For many years we have volunteered in the office, but this has developed into a fundraising opportunity for us. The Nile ladies will work the office November 3–26 from the hours of 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday – Saturday, and
12:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday. On Monday – Saturday there will be two shifts per day, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. I’m hoping I can count on many of you to
volunteer for a shift or two. Watch your email for additional information about signing up to work. Should you want to schedule your work assignment now, please contact me.

The Social Committee, chaired by Terri Cheesman, is organizing a bus trip to the Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville, IN, on Saturday, December 3, to see Irving Berlin’s White Christmas 2022. The New Image Travel bus will leave the Hadi Shrine parking lot at 2:00 PM CST and return at 11:30 PM CST. The cost is $50/member. Payment for your reserved ticket is required when placing your reservation. This is not a fundraiser but rather a time for fun and fellowship. For more information and to place your reservation, please contact me.

In closing, if your time permits, please attend Stated Session at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 6. During this time, let us honor our Past Queens and give recognition to our 50-year members. I will enjoy seeing you. As the lyrics say, we are standing on the shoulders of the ones who came before us, we are stronger for their courage, wiser for their words, and grateful for their vision.

With Nile love and hugs,
Kathy Stewart, Queen

It is a great honor, privilege, and responsibility to serve as Queen of Isis Temple No. 41 for the ensuing year. I look forward to a Nile year of fun and fellowship. The Installation on March 20, 2022, was beautiful! Thank you to everyone who participated in the ceremony, and thank you to all who were present with your love and support. Thank you to our Past Supreme Queen, Past Queens, Fellow Officers, and Ladies of the Household for continuing to bring your unique and special gifts to our Temple. “Together we can do great things.” —Mother Teresa

We will work to increase our membership and fill the seats in the Temple each month for Stated Session. We will serve the Supreme Temple with our gifts and talents. We will live well, laugh often, and let love grow with friendship.

Everyone benefits from your sweet charity of generously giving of your resources, time, and talents. Through your hard work and dedication as a valued and respected member of our order, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children receiving care at Shriners Children’s™. Our philanthropy is fortunate to havewomen like you working together to advance our sisterhood and transform the lives of children and their families. We are guided by our five virtues that express what we believe about who we are and reflect how we are called to serve.

When your time and abilities permit, I hope to see you at Stated Sessions and our events. Consider joining the Egyptian Band or Patrol. Attend a Princeton Nile Club meeting. These are ways to strengthen friendships and gain emotional connection from our relationships with one another. The flowers of friendship will bloom softly at our feet. In closing, “Let your love be generous. Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly wel-comed angels.” Hebrews 13:1-2
